Bar/Bat Mitzvah marks an important step in the spiritual growth of a Jewish child. It does not imply that the child has reached a point where he/she has attained a full or even sufficient knowledge of Judaism. It does, however, indicate that the Bar/Bat Mitzvah student is ready to acquire a more mature understanding of Judaism as a way of life and to assume greater responsibilities.
