In the overwhelming majority of American Jewish schools, camps, synagogues, and community organizations, Jewish heritage has been presented almost exclusively in its Central and Eastern European form, with little or no mention of other ways of Jewish life. Today's community leaders are a product of this limited Jewish education and thus lack the knowledge to teach from a multicultural perspective. This section offers basic training on how to incorporate Jewish ethnic diversity into existing curriculum materials and community programs.
