Message from the President

I am honored to serve as the thirtieth president of Stephen Wise Temple.  It is deeply humbling to appreciate the many dedicated lay leaders who have come before me and who built our very special hilltop sanctuary.  Every day our clergy, staff, teachers, and congregants live up to our mission to “make meaning and change the world.”

Our clergy teach and inspire us.  Our teachers provide our children with a world-class education.  Camp Wise and our Purim Carnival are known throughout our city as the places for fun.  Wise Women, Wise Guys, our Young Adult Division, and Wise Years provide us with community and wonderful events.  Our Center for Tikkun Olam and our partnership with Wise Readers to Leaders provide much-needed hope and assistance to the broader community.  Our Center for Jewish Life and Melton School provide places for our adults to keep learning and growing.  And, of course, our clergy is there for all of our lifecycle and spiritual needs.

I hope that everyone has found an activity or two at the Temple that gives meaning to their lives. For those of you who have not found your special place at the Temple, I encourage you to pick something and try it out.  I know there is something that you will enjoy. And if you’re still struggling to find your place here, please reach out to a congregant, board member, or one of our staff.  There is truly something for everyone at Wise, and we are here to help you find it.

We welcome your involvement in the Temple.  For nearly 60 years, our Temple has been shaped by the aspirations, dreams and talents of our diverse congregants. As we approach our special 60th anniversary year, I look forward to seeing how our current congregation can take our Temple to exciting new heights.
