Celebrate Tashlich at the Beach With Stephen Wise Temple
Sunday, Sept. 17 | 2 p.m. | Will Rogers State Beach | Lifeguard Tower 6

This symbolic casting of our sins into the ocean in preparation for Yom Kippur is part of our three days of Rosh Hashanah celebration, which will include:
  • Our all-community Erev Rosh Hashanah service on Friday, Sept. 15 at 6 p.m.
  • An opportunity for an entire day of communal study and prayer as early as 8:45 a.m. on Rosh Hashanah (Sept. 16), starting with text study with Rabbis David Woznica and Ron Stern.
  • Our 10 a.m. Rosh Hashanah Day 2 service on Sunday, Sept. 17, which will be marked by the Birkat HaKohanim. In the midst of our beautiful communal prayers, it has become a Rosh Hashanah Day 2 tradition to invite the cohanim (and b’not cohen) in our community to come forward and lead the Priestly Blessing, or Birkat HaKohanim. It can be a powerful ritual of giving and receiving blessings, and we hope you will participate if you are a cohen; the designation applies to men and women alike.
  • A Rosh Hashanah Second Day (Sept. 17) bagel nosh luncheon in Zeldin-Hershenson Hall immediately following services, and then …
Tashlich at Will Rogers State Beach, where we will gather in community to reflect, hear the sounds of the shofar, and say goodbye to the mistakes of last year. This beautifully symbolic ritual is a cherished tradition for all ages! Come for the Tashlich, stay for a picnic!
How to get there: This year, we’ve moved our tashlich ceremony to Will Rogers State Beach, one of Los Angeles’ cleanest and friendliest public beaches. You may enter the parking lot from Temescal Canyon Road, then turn right into the parking lot. We’ll be located at Lifeguard Tower 6.
